Frequently Asked Questions

By semi-frequent request, I'm hammering out a FAQ for the blog. I'd appreciate any and all input, and will post it as soon as it's adequately fleshed out. Thanks in advance for your participation.

I'll try to get the ball rolling.

Q: Do antinatalists advocate suicide?

A: No. Suicide often adds to the store of net harm engendered by the suicide's coming into being. However, antinatalist do not judge or condemn an individual's self deliverance.

Aside from a FAQ, a permanent "Water-cooler Conversation" / "Open Thread" would be usefull for general discussion without cluttering up the link library or the latest post.

Jim, I don't know if you saw but I am trying to get a possible "antinatalism manifesto" going. I just thought to mention this as we were talking about other off-site locations for discussion. This manifesto idea, I think would be a useful collaboration and fun as well for those who are interested. It might lead to a more concrete organizational wing of this movement. I am not sure if you are interested, but I think it would be a good way to get some ideas out and hammer out something that can be promoted on the internet or in real life meet-up groups. Anyone is welcome to help edit and add to it. I only made the wikispace and a rudimentary outline. The webpage is: http://theantinatalismmanifesto.wikispaces.com/

Sounds like a good idea, Compoverde. I'll check it out and try to contribute what I can. Seems like a good group effort could hammer out something nice.

Q. Why don't you fuckers all kill yourselves then?

A. Because we want to see the next episode of Doctor Who.

Hi PD.

I see you stumbled across a group of posters I'm familiar with. They're part of the hookingupsmart.com group. Generally they're a pretty good group. I even post on their sites myself (though this is the first time I posted on dalrock's site). In fact, I made a link to my "Why I'm sold on antinatalism" blog from one of their pages, and seemed to get a fair number of hits.

Speaking of the "hooking up" scene, filrabat, I consider it personally a shoe horn to misogyny. The girls imvolved could make really good money as escorts or working in a legal brothel instead of giving it away while getting a likely useless college degree.

anon,

You're probably right about that. The blog focuses on trying to get young college women seriously looking for committed relationships to choose wisely, rather than take the "girls gone wild" route. But this is very off-topic from antinatalism, except perhaps to the extent that hooking up can lead to pregnancy.
